These Terms govern your use of Salary Index, operated by Paxizon Technologies Limited. Please read them carefully — they explain what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and the limits of our responsibility for a free, crowdsourced compensation reference.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Paxizon Technologies Limited (“Paxizon”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the company that operates Salary Index. They govern your access to and use of the Salary Index website and related features (the “Service”).
By accessing or using the Service, or by submitting any data to it, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Salary Index is a compensation-transparency platform. It collects self-reported and publicly available salary information, cleans and anonymises it, and presents it as aggregate market benchmarks that anyone can browse, search and filter.
The Service is provided free of charge. We may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time, and we may limit access to parts of the Service, without liability to you.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet these requirements and that your use complies with all laws that apply to you.
4. Salary Submissions and Your Content
You may choose to contribute salary information and related details (your “Submission”). When you make a Submission, you agree that:
- the information is, to the best of your knowledge, true, accurate and your own, and you have the right to share it;
- you will not include any third party’s confidential information, trade secrets, or anything you are contractually or legally prohibited from disclosing; and
- you will not submit false, misleading, defamatory or unlawful content.
Do not submit sensitive personal data. You must not include in a Submission any national identification numbers (such as NIN, BVN, or passport or driver’s licence numbers), bank account or payment card numbers, passwords, health information, or any other data subject to special protection under applicable law. We disclaim all liability arising from any such data you choose to submit.
You grant Paxizon a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to host, store, clean, anonymise, aggregate, reproduce, adapt, publish and create derivative works from your Submission for the purpose of operating and improving the Service and publishing market benchmarks. The cleaned, anonymised and aggregated output is owned by Paxizon. No compensation is or will be payable to you for this use, and you waive any right to such compensation to the fullest extent permitted by law. Because Submissions are anonymised and combined into aggregate data, they generally cannot be withdrawn from the aggregate once published; however, you may ask us to remove or correct a Submission, and we will act on reasonable requests.
Feedback. If you send us feedback, ideas or suggestions about the Service, you grant Paxizon a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them for any purpose, without any obligation or compensation to you.
We may, but are not obligated to, review, edit, reclassify or remove any Submission — for example to correct an obvious error, to standardise a role, or to protect a person’s anonymity.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree that you will not, and will not allow anyone else to:
- scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-download or use bots or other automated means to access or extract data from the Service, or use the data to train any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model (we grant operators of public search engines revocable permission to crawl the Service solely to create publicly available search indices);
- copy, resell, sublicense, redistribute or otherwise commercially exploit the data or any substantial part of it without our prior written consent;
- access or use the Service or its data to build or assist a similar or competing product, dataset or service;
- attempt to re-identify any individual or to determine the specific employer behind an anonymised listing, or combine the data with other information to do so;
- use the Service or its data to harass, profile, discriminate against or harm any person;
- reverse engineer, interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems; or
- use the Service in any way that violates any law or these Terms.
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
We are not obligated to pre-screen or monitor content, but we may. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion and without notice, to review, refuse, edit or remove any Submission or content; to investigate suspected violations of these Terms; to disclose information where we believe it necessary to comply with the law or a legal request, to enforce these Terms, to respond to a person who claims a listing infringes their rights or could identify them, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Paxizon, our users or the public; and to cooperate with law-enforcement authorities. Any action we take is for our benefit and does not waive any other right or remedy.
7. The Data Is Informational Only
Salary Index is a crowdsourced and aggregated reference. The data is provided for general informational purposes only and “as is”. We do not independently verify most Submissions and do not warrant that any figure or detail is accurate, complete, current or representative of any role, company or market.
Nothing on the Service is financial, legal, career or employment advice. You should not rely on it as the sole basis for any decision, including any salary negotiation or employment decision. Any reliance you place on the data is at your own risk.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service — including the compiled and aggregated dataset, the software, design, layout, text, graphics, the “Salary Index” name and logo, and all related intellectual property — is owned by or licensed to Paxizon and is protected by applicable laws. The selection, arrangement and presentation of the aggregated data is our property, even though individual data points are contributed by users.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. No other rights are granted.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may link to third-party websites or rely on third-party providers (for example for hosting or analytics). We are not responsible for the content, policies or practices of any third party, and a link does not imply our endorsement. Your use of any third-party site or service is governed by that third party’s terms.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Paxizon and its directors, employees and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service or its data, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you will not exceed one hundred United States dollars (USD $100) or its equivalent.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Paxizon and its directors, employees and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your Submissions, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
13. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including the content licence, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law — will continue to apply.
14. Changes to the Service and These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where the change is significant, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
16. General Provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Paxizon regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreement on the subject.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will stay in full force.
- Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Electronic communications. You consent to receive notices and communications from us electronically, and agree they satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
