This Privacy Policy explains how Paxizon Technologies Limited (“Paxizon”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the company behind Salary Index, collects, uses, anonymises and protects information when you use the Service.
1. Scope and Applicability
This Privacy Policy applies to the Salary Index website and any related pages, features and services that link to it (together, the “Service”). It explains what information we collect from and about people who visit the Service or submit data to it (a “user”, “you” or “your”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect:
- Salary submissions. When you contribute a salary, you provide details such as job title, function, level, industry, company type, location, pay, currency, year, benefits and any optional context you choose to share. Submission is voluntary.
- Verification details you choose to give. A verification method (a payslip, offer letter, work email or LinkedIn profile) is optional and used only to confirm the authenticity of a submission. It is never displayed publicly.
- Usage and device data. Unless you turn analytics off, we collect aggregate, non-identifying information such as pages viewed, searches run, filters selected, contribution prompts viewed, approximate region, browser and device type, used to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.
- Cookie preferences. Your consent choices are stored on your device so we can honour them on future visits.
- Publicly available data. We also incorporate salary information from public sources (published compensation reports and articles, figures reported by companies, and company job or career pages), which we clean and present in the same standardised format.
- Internal review data. For data quality, we may keep private source snapshots and mapping records that connect an internal record to its original source. These are used for review, correction and future product development, and are not shown on the public Salary Index unless we decide to publish a field that is safe to disclose.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for sensitive identifiers such as your full name, employee ID, bank details or government ID.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, maintain and secure the Service;
- clean, anonymise and publish salary data as non-identifying individual listings and aggregate market benchmarks;
- verify the authenticity of a submission where you have provided a verification method (a payslip, offer letter, work email or LinkedIn profile);
- understand usage trends and improve search, filtering and the overall experience; and
- calculate and display salary bands, medians and percentile ranges where there is enough comparable data;
- respond to your enquiries and detect or prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your salary submission to identify you to your employer or anyone else.
4. Salary Submissions and Anonymisation
Before any submission appears on the Service, it is stripped of personal identifiers and anonymised:
- No personal identifiers are published. Names, emails, verification links and any free-text notes that could identify you are never shown.
- Company names stay hidden by default. A specific employer is shown only where the figure was disclosed by the company itself (for example a public job posting or a company-published report). Every individual submission is shown behind a generic descriptor such as “a Financial Technology company”, never your employer’s name.
- Roles are generalised. Free-text job titles are mapped to a standard role and seniority so a listing reads, for example, “Senior · Backend Engineer” rather than anything tied to you.
- Only market-safe attributes are displayed. What appears is the role, level, industry, company type, broad location, pay and year: information that describes the market, not the individual.
Because published data is anonymised, generalised and combined with similar records for salary bands, it generally cannot be traced back to you. If you believe a listing could identify you, contact us using the details below and we will review and, where appropriate, remove or adjust it.
7. International Data Transfer
We are based in Nigeria and may use service providers (for hosting and analytics, for example) that operate in other countries. Where information is transferred across borders, it may be processed in a country whose data-protection laws differ from those where you live. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected in line with this Policy and applicable law.
8. Data Retention
We keep raw submissions only as long as needed to clean, verify and publish the anonymised listing, and to maintain the integrity of the dataset. Optional contact details are deleted once a submission has been processed or on your request.
The internal review data described above (private source snapshots and mapping records) is kept for as long as we need it to correct, re-check and improve the dataset. It is held privately, is never published as part of a listing, and you can ask us to delete it using the contact details below.
Published listings and aggregate, anonymised data may be retained indefinitely, as they no longer identify any individual.
9. How We Secure Your Information
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. But minimising the personal data we hold in the first place is a core part of how we protect you.
10. Your Rights and Choices
You can, at any time:
- choose whether to allow analytics cookies through the cookie banner;
- ask us to access, correct or delete a submission you made, or any optional contact details you provided; and
- report a listing you believe could identify you, using the “Report this entry” option on a listing or the contact details below.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable data-protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.
11. Children
The Service is intended for working professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where the change is significant, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
13. Contact Us
